The First Agreement.

The first agreement is: BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD.

Why your word? Your word is the power that you have to create. Through the word you express your creative power. It is through your word that you manifest everything. In the book he gives little examples of how powerful your word can be. The one story that he told was that there was this mom who came home from a hard day at work she had a headache and her daughter was happy she was home and was singing and jumping around in excitement and the mother finally broke and told her daughter that her singing was horrible and to stop, so he stated that even in the daughter's older age she still refused to sing, her mothers word was so powerful that she believed that her voice was that bad that she would never allow anyone to hear her sing. But realizing how your word can effect someone even if you don't mean for it to is a eye opener. Think about it when kids are younger how they make fun of each other and sometimes those words can effect someone for the rest of their lives if they start believing it, then they will carry it with them. So we should all be kind with our words on what we say to someone. He uses the first agreement in saying that your word is like cursing someone if you say something negative to them, like you are instantly putting a spell on that person. We also can use our words on ourselves. We talk to ourselves constantly and most of the time we say things like, "Oh I look fat", I look ugly, etc". So tell yourself that your beautiful and if you think you look fat say something like I could lose some weight but I am still beautiful. I hope this first agreement opens the eyes of some of you guys like it has me. Until tomorrow..
So next time you are about to say something really negative to someone ask yourself are they capable of taking this and brushing it off or is my word going to haunt them.
